The Qubit Timetag Module (QTM) enhances the Cluster by providing both digital signal generation and acquisition, specifically optimized for qubits like color centers, trapped ions, and cold atoms.

The QTM outputs facilitate fast and precisely timed TTL signals for direct and precise laser control, while the QTM inputs support configurable thresholds, windowing, photon counting, and time‑tagging for efficient optical readout. Seamless integration of these functions guarantees synchronization across the system, eliminating the need for external triggers. With real‑time pulse sequencing and conditional feedback based on the measured photon count, the QTM adapts dynamically to experimental conditions, offering a powerful tool for optically addressable quantum systems.

Built-in Scope and BinMode acquisition enable both time-resolved signal capture and high-statistics photon counting.

Time‑tagging with 20 ps precision and a 20 ns dead time provides accurate photon detection, with dual TDC modes allowing optimization between maximum resolution and reduced dead time.
Built-in fan-out capability supports three-state detection schemes, enabling simultaneous classification of multiple photon detection outcomes for advanced qubit readout protocols.
Real-time waveform parametrization of amplitude and gain, combined with dynamic phase and frequency modulation, enables flexible and precise signal shaping.
Precision TTL output generation enables deterministic pulse placement for laser control and qubit manipulation, ensuring accurate synchronization with photon detection events.

Using the QTM in the Qblox Cluster

Scalable QTM Cluster Integration

The Qubit Timetag Module (QTM) operates within the Qblox Cluster mainframe, offering seamless integration and scalability. A single 19” rack Cluster unit can accommodate up to 20 QTM modules, providing density for up to 160 digital input and output channels.

Seamless Cross-Module Integration

Qblox’s modular architecture allows interoperability between the QCM and other modules, including the Qubit Control RF Module (QRC-RF II), Qubit Readout Modules (QRM and QRM‑RF), Qubit Readout and Control (QRC), and the Qubit Timetag Module (QTM).

SYNQ & LINQ

Using the proprietary SYNQ and LINQ interconnect protocols, all modules communicate and run synchronously. This architecture ensures precise alignment of control, readout, and processing, allowing users to configure a control stack that matches their quantum system and supports high‑fidelity operation.
