The Quantum Source and Measurement (QSM) module is designed for DC transport experiments, qubit characterization, and operations with DC pulses.

Integrating both sourcing and measurement capabilities in a single instrument, it is supported by the DC Cluster mainframe for ground-loop-free operation and effective interference isolation. Offering long‑term stability and ultra‑low noise levels, the QSM stands out as a unique tool for transport experiments and qubit applications. Its seamless interoperability with other Qblox baseband modules within the DC Cluster enables fast and efficient experimental setup.

Source and measurement of current and voltage in a single module
via 8 re-configurable DC input and output channels.
28-bit resolution with <0.6 µV step size delivers precise control and measurement of sensitive signals.
Voltage sourcing across a ±10 V range maintains linearity and stability for DC transport experiments, qubit characterization, and operations with DC pulses.
Two marker outputs enable external instrument triggering, coordinating multi-device experiments with accurate timing.
Differential voltage measurements as well as measurements with respect to ground offer maximum versatility in complex circuits.
Current sourcing up to 50 mA and measurement from 0.5  pA to 50 mA, including simultaneous (gate) leakage current monitoring, supports comprehensive device characterization.

Scalable QSM DC Cluster Integration

The Quantum Source and Measurement (QSM) module operates within the Qblox DC Cluster mainframe, offering seamless integration and scalability. A single 19” rack DC Cluster unit can accommodate up to 20 QSM modules, providing 160 reconfigurable input/output channels for DC transport experiments and qubit operation. 

Seamless Cross-Module Integration

Qblox’s modular architecture allows interoperability between the QSM and other baseband modules, including the Qubit Control Module (QCM) and Qubit Readout Modules (QRM). Together, these modules form a coherent, fully integrated baseband platform, offering a phase-coherent signal generation from DC to 400 MHz. Each module is synchronized to a common clock, ensuring sub-nanosecond alignment between DC tuning, pulsed control, and readout operations.

SYNQ & LINQ

Using the proprietary SYNQ and LINQ interconnect protocols, all modules communicate and run synchronously. This architecture ensures precise alignment of control, readout, and processing, allowing users to configure a control stack that matches their quantum system and supports high‑fidelity operation.
