Orchestration

Orchestration in quantum computing refers to the coordination and management of all the components involved in executing a quantum experiment or algorithm, including qubit control, readout, classical processing, error correction, and data management.

Why it matters. A quantum computing experiment involves many moving parts that must work in concert: pulse sequences must be compiled and scheduled, signals must be generated and delivered synchronously, measurements must be processed, results must be fed back for conditional operations or stored for analysis, and the entire workflow must be monitored for errors or drift. As systems scale, orchestration becomes increasingly complex. It is not enough for individual components to work well in isolation; they must be coordinated through a unified software and hardware framework that manages timing, data flow, and resource allocation across the full stack.

How it connects. The Qblox control stack provides orchestration at multiple levels. At the hardware level, the SYNQ and LINQ protocols synchronize all modules and route data for feedback. At the software level, the Qblox Scheduler manages experiment compilation, scheduling, data acquisition, and visualization. The Central Management Module (CMM) in the Cluster coordinates communication across all installed modules.
