Having gained a Summa Cum Laude in electronics, Andrew Sutherland went on to gain a PhD and MBA at Edinburgh university. He left a directorship in the Centre for Speech Technology Research to join Oracle in 1995, where he rose to lead the growth of its Software, Hardware and Cloud business as a Senior Vice President across Europe and Asia.
